One of the first things Angie and Mickey said to me was "We're from Kansas originally so we'd like to get some cactus in there. Our family would like that". I admit, most of my life, I thought cactus were ugly and lame. But, as I've gotten older, I have come to adore my cactus. They're so charming (but don't touch- also Cholla "jumping" cactus suck).
Angie and Mickey first dated in junior high. As Angie put it "we just grew apart". That didn't surprise me given the few flames I had as an itty bitty teenager (although a few of them are still friends of mine). Jr. High is just that awkward part of life where you're first figuring out how to be an autonomous person. Also, the acne and greasy hair doesn't help. Years later, Angie and Mickey reconnected. Shortly after, Angie moved to Arizona to start a job at Raytheon (Raytheon is a huge employer here in Tucson). Mickey followed her and began a (you're going to love this) SMOKED CHEESE BUSINESS.
No really, Angie has decided that his rapper name is "White Cheddar". That's how good his cheese is. He gave me a sample of his white cheddar actually, and I was obsessed. It had such a good flavor: so be sure to check out Peace, Love, and Smoked Cheese. Mickey sells his cheese at farmer's markets. You can find out more about farmer's markets in Tucson here.
We also found out that our dogs go to the same doggy day care. They play together! It was just proof that this world really is small.
Mickey and Angie were such a joy to work with. They responded well to my antics and also had their own little antics as well. After their session, I got together with the two of them at their house and helped them select their photos. It was a blast!
Check out their beautiful photos!
