Lauren and Noah: The SLPeep Couple
This session was a very special session to me. You see, in August 2016 I ventured into the toughest program of my academic career. The University of Arizona Speech Language and Hearing Sciences Master’s program consisted of 20 odd students taking rigorous courses as well as functioning as clinicians. You’d have to be in the program to truly understand just how difficult it was, and I truly can’t explain it in this blog post without getting completely off track. I will say that the program brought the students together. We did happy hours regularly, through each other engagement parties (we had 5 girls get engaged during the program), stayed way too late at the building, and did basically everything we could to keep each other sane and academically afloat. The program is where Lauren and Noah met. They are the SLPeep couple. When the cohort returned to school for the second year of the program, we did a photoshoot. I took a picture of Lauren and Noah, and I remember them being so fresh and feeling so awkward about taking a picture with me. Lauren’s roommates (who were also in the program) sure got a kick out of it. Now, they are both SLPs and have grown so much as a couple. They still felt a little worried about taking photos, but they did a great job. I’m so excited to be their photographer at their wedding next April.
Location: Maeveen Behan Desert Sanctuary is a trail system in Marana, Arizona. Lauren and Noah love hiking and the outdoors, so I knew we had to pick a deserty outdoor location.
